Dear Parents/ Guardians,
As we near the end of the final term, we know that Sports Day is a day that the children all look forward to. Sadly, this year we will not get the opportunity to enjoy this.
In place of our Sports Day, this year Scoil Naomh Cualán are runnning a Virtual Sports Week for you to participate in if you wish. This will take place next week. Your children will be assigned a set of suggested tasks for you to complete as a family throughout the week at your convenience. The activities are primarily focused on the fundamental skills of running, throwing, kicking and balancing . In place of the fundamental skill “landing” , we have set a “Ceili in the Kitchen” Challenge. We are looking forward to seeing all your dance moves! We also welcome the children to create and share their own games/obstacle courses throughout the week.
Within each activity, we briefly discuss what the skill is and have attached instructions with each game that focuses on developing the skill. In addition to the instructions, a video clip will be linked to show the game in action. The instructions refer to the children as pupils and it lists the equipment that can be found in schools. Please click on the link below to see a list of substitute equipment that can be found in the home. Please don’t let the equipment put you off completing the game, we have lots of items in our homes that work just as well. The list also came with a number of suggested treats. No Sports Day is complete without edible prizes!!
Please note that all of the above is suggested work. We are fully aware of how busy it is at home at this time and we are all doing our best. Dip in and out as you please.
Thank you for all your support.
