Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Our reopening is fast approaching. School staff have been working extremely hard to get the school ready and devise new routines and procedures for the safe reopening of our school. We can’t wait to welcome back the children and meet our new Junior Infants. School will be a little different when we come back but we will still have the welcoming, friendly and fun atmosphere that permeates our school. Our focus will be on settling the children back into school routines and their socialisation with their friends.

The link in this post will take you to our “Back to School Plan”. You will find information on pick up and drop off arrangements, what to do if you need to visit the school, school bags, break times, how we as a school will deal with a suspected case of Covid 19 etc.

Our drop off arrangements will be very different this year. Due to minimising the risks of Covid 19 no children are allowed on the school grounds before 8:50am. It’s crucial that this rule is followed. At 8:50am Mrs Slattery and I will supervise the children as they enter the school grounds and we will direct the children to their class doors. Teachers will be ready to admit the children into their rooms from 8:50am. We hope drop off and pick up times will run more smoothly this year as we are currently developing a staff car park on the Senior School side. We hope to have it ready over the coming days. With the staff cars away from the front of both schools there will be much more space for parents/ guardians cars. As always please be wary of children as you pull in and pull out.

If your child is absent for a day/days please inform the school of the reason by text, phone or email please.

If for any reason your child has to leave school early please contact the school mobile as we must keep a log of all children who leave early. Clare will talk you through the procedure for collecting your child.

Please ensure that your child brings back their ‘Book Rental’ books from last year. They do not require last years workbooks or copies just the text books they received from the book rental scheme, thank you.

Thank you for the book list money received to date. Payments can be made online if you so wish. If payment is made online please text or email the school so we have a record of it. Thank you.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support over the last six months. It has been a trying time for everyone, but how our whole community has pulled together has been unbelievable. As we open on Monday it gives us all a much needed boost and a return to a somewhat normal routine. We look forward to working with you and your children and I wish you all a happy and healthy new school year.

Ní neart go cur le chéile.

Le meas,

Michael Small
