December was really an action packed month in Scoil Naomh Cualan. All children spent the Advent period preparing for the coming of Jesus. A beautiful prayer and carol service was held in the school hall before the Christmas holidays. We were delighted that Fr. Everard was able to make this special occasion.

Congratulations to our four fantastic pupils: Conor, Tom, Michael and Pádraig on coming fourth in the County Final of the GAA quiz recently in Thurles. The standard of answering in the quiz was exceptional. The boys did themselves, their families and their school extremely proud. Well done boys.

Mr. Small has organised a school hurling league for all children from third to sixth class. The children are divided into six teams(Tipp, Cork, Dublin, Tyrone, Limerick and Galway) and will play matches over the next number of weeks. The first of our matches took place on Friday, 2nd December. Great fun was had down in the park on the opening day of the league. We look forward to seeing how all teams will progress over the next few weeks.

Well done to all the children in fourth class who took the time and effort to research and learn about some aspect of Irish History. The projects were beautifully presented and many thanks for the great  support received at home.

Although there was lots of work to be completed before the holidays, the teachers still made time for lots of fun activities in the lead up to Christmas such as: making centrepieces for the dinner table, making dioramas, making candle holders, Christmas songs and dramas, wreath making, fabric and fibre Christmas pictures, sewing Christmas stockings, making gingerbread houses and even Christmas dinner. It surely was an action packed month!  We are all now looking forward to a very peaceful and happy Christmas and New Year.
