The celebration of Grandparent’s Day has quickly become the highlight of Catholic Schools Week for growing numbers of schools across the country. This year we celebrated the very special day with a lovely service down in the church. There was a huge turnout for the occasion.  A big thanks to Fr. Hennessy for making it such a memorable occasion. The children sang beautiful hymns, recited prayers of the faithful and played their instruments which added so much to the mass. After Mass, all grandparents made a special effort to come up to the school to see their grandchild’s classroom and meet their friends. They also got the opportunity to chat to other grandparents over a cup of tea. The day  reminded us that the relationship children have with their grandparents is characterised by unquestioning love and support, of knowing that they will always be welcome and that there will always be a hug and  a space for them in their lives.   Everybody agreed that it was a huge success again this year. It was a very special day and one the children will never forget. We pray for for our granparents, we give thanks for them and we ask God’s blessing on them. We love our grandparents!
