We were delighted to welcome our Community Garda, Sgt. Ray Moloney to our school today.Sgt. Moloney spoke to 5th and 6th class and 3rd and 4th class about the positive and negative sides of the online world. The talk was very informative for both the children and adults present. Snapchat seemed to be the app of choice for some of our pupils, but this is only one of many that they maybe accessing. Sgt. Moloney informed the children that the legal age to have a Snapchat account is 13 years old.
He asked the school to stress to our parent body that under no circumstances should any child be using a mobile phone or any internet enabled device in their bedroom or any other room where they are not being supervised by an adult. He also asked to share the following links with you all, so that we all have an awareness of the dangers and pitfalls that are associated with online devices.
