I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you and your child on another excellent year in Scoil Naomh Cualán and wish you a happy, safe and fun filled summer holidays.

New Drumcondra tests

In your child’s End of Year Report you will see the STen scores they achieved in Maths, Reading and Spelling, depending on the class they’re in. Please find enclosed in this envelope a letter from the ERC who devise the tests, explaining how the tests have been updated and standardised to new 2018 norms. The letter explains that you may see a drop in your child’s STen and this maybe because of a number of reasons but, “ However, at the point of transition from older tests to new ones, change is more likely to occur because it is now possible to compare the child’s achievement to that of an up-to-date reference group.”

As always, if you wish to discuss the End of Year Report with the class teacher please contact Clare to make an appointment and we would be more than happy to meet you.

County Finals and early closures

Congratulations to our U13 hurlers who have joined our U13 Camogie team in this years County Finals. The Camogie Final is on Tuesday next 18th at 2:20pm in Semple Stadium versus Ardcroney NS. The Hurling final is on Wednesday the 19th at 2:50pm versus Scoil Ailbhe, Thurles.

Due to the times we will be closing early at 1:40pm both days. There will only be a bus for the children on the panels, parents can bring their children in to support the team if they wish.

We expect the girls bus to arrive back at the school at approximately 4pm and the boys to return at approximately 4:45pm on their respective days.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Frank Cooney and ‘Oscar Wilde Water’ for sponsoring our new school jerseys in conjunction with our brilliant Parent’s Association. The jerseys  produced by Cathal Bourke are fantastic! Míle buíochas!

We also would like to thank ‘Waxies’ for sponsoring socks for our U13 hurlers and ‘Maher Haulage’ for sponsoring socks for the U13 Camogie girls.

The sponsorship is greatly appreciated by everyone in Scoil Naomh Cualán and it shows the great community spirit we have in Borrisoleigh. Go raibh míle maith agaibh!
