A huge thank you to everybody for your wonderful support of our Charity Breakfast on Friday last. We are delighted to inform you that the total raised towards the Amanda Stapleton Fund was €1,223.23 ( £1,076 stg) and thank you all for your generosity. We also thank our sponsors Brian O’ Farrell Catering, Stapleton’s Bread, Thurles Milk and Tom Kenneally who generously assisted in defraying the costs of this most enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
We are delighted to report good news on many other fronts also where our talented pupils continue to shine and do us all proud. A large contingent from 3rd-6th classes travelled to Thurles for the Co. Cross Country Championships last week. This is a major event in which well over 2,000 students from Primary Schools across Co. Tipperary compete annually. All our pupils gave of their best and represented our school brilliantly in these testing long distance races and we are proud of each and every one of them. Following a great day out we were delighted to be awarded a total of 5 x individual and 8 x team medals! Our prizewinners were as follows:
Fifth and Sixth Class Boys 1,000m, Major Schools, 1st Place (Individual Gold): Tom Delaney.
Third and Fourth Class Girls 800m, Major Schools, 2nd Place (Individual Silver): Grace Stapleton.

Well done to all concerned!
Our U-13 Girls performed marvellously at their Football Blitz on Tuesday, winning three of their four matches, very narrowly missing out on qualification for the North Final but doing everybody proud by their marvellous performances. Not to be outdone, our U-13 Boys pulled out all the stops on Friday and were thrilled to emerge victorious in all their matches and qualify for the North Final v Corville N.S. next week. Well done to all and every good wish for the Final!
Congratulations, also, to Zara Byrne, Third Class, who successfully auditioned for a part in the University of Limerick Concert Hall Pantomime, Snow White –The Panto, which we will attend, as a school group, in December. It will be an added bonus for all of us to see Zara on stage in what promises to be a wonderful show and we are all really looking forward to it.
On an organisational front we earnestly request that all absences are notified to the school by one of the following methods: a) Detachable note from your child’s School Diary, b) Note/Letter to Class Teacher/School, c) Text to School Mobile (086) 0233023 or Phone Call to School Mobile or School Phone (0504)51473. This is essential for our record keeping under the obligations of our Attendance Policy which can be viewed on our school website. Under current legislation we are obliged to notify the EWB of all absences in excess of 20 school days and this is very strictly monitored by the DES and EWB. In accordance with our Attendance Strategy, parents will be notified in advance of their child reaching this figure but we urge all parents to do their best to cultivate and maintain a good attendance record by their child as this is a good habit which will stand to them throughout life. Of course, we must stress that children who are sick or unwell should not come to school until they have recovered and are able to fully participate in school activities.
Thanking you for your continued support which makes such a difference to our school!
Yours sincerely,
