Fifth class have had a really busy term since returning to school in September. Here are some of our highlights:

English:

The children have been busy exploring recount writing. They created some wonderful spooky Halloween stories. The children have also been exploring GETEPIC online reading library.

Maths:

5th class took a huge interest in the Lines & Angles topic. They have showcased their excellent ability to draw & measure Angles. The children have also begun Maths Stations once a week with Mrs McCormack. The children love the various stations which include games, ipad work & hands on maths work.

Gaeilge:

Bhí na páistí ag foghlaim alán rudaí faoi mé féin. Gach Luan tósaimid leis an Nuacht. Is aoibheann na páistí An Nuacht. Tá a fhéin mhuinín leis an teanga ag feabhsú gach lá

PE:

Football & Cross Country have been the main sports in 5th class this term. The children all competed bravely in the Thurles Crookes Cross Country Races. We had medal winners from various classes in the school, however the most impressive thing was seeing the improvement each child made over the weeks of practice. We had students on both u13 & u11 teams football teams. The children loved getting the chance to showcase their football skills. There is plenty of footballing ability in this class & hopeful we will see more of it over the coming months & years in Scoil Naomh Cualán.

SESE:

The children created wonderful Kahoot quizzes based on a country participating at the Rugby World Cup Finals in France. The children learnt so much from researching the different countries. They also enjoyed the element of competition trying to see who knew the most about each country. The children also used their science skills to create some fabulous catapults.

ART:

Below is a selection of the wonderful ART work the children have completed since returning to school in September. We have some talented Artists among us.

5th class had a fantastic end to the term with both a scarecrow competition & a trip to their fellow classmates in Le Chéile for some old school Halloween games. Thanks so much to Mrs Clohessey and her team of SNAs for organizing it. The children loved every minutes of it.
